The level of care each client requires varies greatly. Depending upon the type of residents the program will serve, applicants may also need to be licensed under other DHS programs under MN 245D. Assisted living homes serve more residents than adult foster care. Commonly, four persons is considered the dividing line between the two, but again this varies by state.
